Cinema is a live communication between the audience and the authors. In order to make that communication stronger by presenting the audience with some long forgotten films, The Albanian Cinema Project works on the preservation of Balkan films through their latest initiative.
They are actively forging alliances with media archives from the Western Balkans, with all the Western Balkans countries participating. After receiving a small grant from the Ministry of Culture to run film preservation workshops in Tirana for all film and television archives in the Western Balkans, TACP has made a lot of progress, but they still need our help.
Building regional collaboration in order to promote long-term preservation of the region’s audiovisual heritage, and to conduct continuing education workshops for archives professionals, will hopefully be improved when they manage to purchase a film scanner that will remain in the Western Balkans for ongoing preservation and digitization work.
How can you help? Please, consider donating $10 to support their crowdfunding campaign. For a price of one or two movie tickets, you can contribute to a permanent change and your region’s audiovisual culture.
Let’s make a difference together!
